01 Mar 2005: Help Save Star Trek Enterprise from Cancellation

Visit TrekUnited

On 2nd February 2005, Paramount -- the maker of the longest-running TV show in history -- announced that their latest series, Star Trek: Enterprise, would be cancelled. Star Trek has a 40 year history of inspiring generations of engineers, scientists and academics around the world. Their positive portrayal of humanity is a refreshing change to many other cataclysmic predictions on the future of humanity (seen the original series of the Planet of the Apes lately?)

Following the cancellation of the original Star Trek in 1968, fans of the show started an unprecedented letter-writing campaign that miraculously brought back their show to the airwaves. TrekUnited.com was set up to do exactly this: bring back Enterprise! Tim Brazeal, an entrepreneurial Star Trek fan created a website to unite fans who want to bring back the show. His premise is simple: Fund the Future, to the tune of $US35Million to fund the next season of the show!

TrekUnited can be taken seriously: they've hired a lawyer to ensure donations are refunded (minus banking fees) in case their mission is unsuccessful, and have recently raised over $US3.1 Million!

Legends never die - fund the future!
