Action

The student branch runs many programmes and events throughout the year that you can become involved in on two levels:
-
As a student member. We welcome and encourage all our student members to attend our events, as they are run for you! Examples of events include workshops, seminars, movie nights, BBQs, and sporting events.
-
As a committee member. It is important to recognise that coursework and/or research studies cannot provide the full-wealth of professional training that is demanded by todays world. By becoming a branch committee member you will be exposed to a team environment where you will pick up many professional skills and experience that will shine on your resume when you're looking for a job.
Region 10 occasionally holds a leadership workshop that you may attend as an officer of the branch that can provide invaluable leadership training.

Networking

People networks are vital in high technology industries and academic research communities. You can use your student branch to join such networks in a variety of ways:
-
Joining the committee: your fellow officers will one day take on a wide variety of roles throughout the world and you will already know them on a personal level.
-
Branch alumni system: we will be starting an alumni system so you may look up old branch members who you can call upon in future years.
-
Industry night: pre-view what others are doing in industry and gain contacts for work experience or jobs following your studies.
